Edward Scissorhands, portrayed by Johnny Depp, is the titular character in the 1990 film *Edward Scissorhands*. He is an artificial humanoid being created by an elderly inventor who dies before completing Edward's hands, leaving him with scissor blades in their place.

Living alone in the inventor's Gothic mansion atop a hill, Edward is discovered by Peg Boggs, a kind Avon saleswoman, who takes him into her suburban home. He struggles to adapt to the conformity and social norms of the town, while his unique scissor hands make him both a source of fascination and fear.

Edward's artistic talent with his scissorhands allows him to become a popular hairdresser and topiary artist, but misunderstandings and prejudice lead to his ostracization and tragic downfall. He ultimately retreats back to his mansion, where he continues to live in solitude, forever marked by his differences.
